Dennis Shierman serves as the Area Representative for Western Canada with CBM. His responsibilities include connecting churches across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, participating in CBM’s global initiatives, and fostering donor relationships.
Dennis’ long history with CBM began with his role as Field Staff in Indonesia (1990-1993) with his wife, Judy. They assisted the ministry in practical ways with Judy teaching missionary children and Dennis facilitating building maintenance and teaching husbandry. They later moved to Bolivia (1994-2004) where they served at the Casa de la Amistad children’s prison ministry in Cochabamba. They helped form a working board, built up staff, and the holistic program for children, in addition to planning chapels in the prisons and facilitating short-term ministries and financial administration.
Dennis’ academic background includes a Certificate of Ministry from Carey Theological College, along with numerous courses in donor relations, fundraising, and managing major donors. He is also a certified journeyman gasfitter/steam fitter and plumber.
Dennis values family time, especially camping in the Rockies and sharing meals with his six grandchildren. An aficionado of international cuisine, Dennis enjoys both sushi and traditional Bolivian dishes.
