Kids at Risk
Kids at Risk – Help Provide Care for Orphans
In Rwanda, orphans and vulnerable children face challenges beyond their physical health. Your gift will go towards school fees and psychosocial support, giving these children the tools to dream of a brighter future. In turn, program graduates mentor and support younger children still in need.
Every $200 will help care for an orphan for one year –
Reach out to your local youth centre or after-school program to explore mentorship or tutoring opportunities.
At 17 years old, Justine has already known the effects of poverty, and what it means to work hard. The oldest of four children, she fell several grades behind in her studies because of a lack of money for school or the required school materials. Her father’s income is very low compared to the family’s basic needs, and her mother has been unable to find a job.
But there is hope. By having her school fees paid for through CBM’s partner project, her situation changed dramatically.
Justine says, “I received help from the church and I love it so much. Before, I was hopeless, and I thought my school life was over”. She thanks supporting churches in Canada for “awakening the hope of a bright future”. Her whole family is encouraged, and Justine now dreams of becoming a judge to address injustice and support others in her community.
Donor Ornament
A fun way for your church to visually show participation in Shared Hopeful Gifts is through the donor ornaments! Download the file, cut them out, have participants write their name on an ornament once they’ve donated, and hang them on a tree or on a wall in your church.
