Justice – Help Train a Youth Peace Ambassador

Refugees in DR Congo, deeply affected by conflict and trauma, seek peace and healing. With your gift, young peace ambassadors in local churches are being given gospel-centered training for peacemaking in refugee camps. Through this, they find their own healing, then also equip their peers and welcome them into community.

$100 helps train one youth peace ambassador.

We have a goal to train 160 youth – how many can your church support this Christmas?
Local Connection:

Reach out to a church youth worker and ask how you can support or pray for teens dealing with conflict at school or home, fostering peace in your community.

As a woman in DR Congo, Jeanne has seen the effects of trauma in her own family and relationships. She and her husband were having conflicts, and Jeanne tried to build peace, but felt discouraged due to her lack of knowledge and training.

Through the CBCA, our local church partner, a program for youth ambassadors and children’s leaders to build peace is addressing these issues directly. Jeanne participated in the program and says: “Since receiving training, I have become an agent of peacebuilding in my own family, and I have changed the way I live with my husband. I’ve even started a WhatsApp group to teach peacebuilding to my relatives. I’m very thankful to Canadian churches for the support and training in peace building. What you have done for us is a good deed which can change our broken world.”

Now, Jeanne is a children’s ministry leader, working with youth to prevent group hostility and violence in their communities. She gathers young people to share about building peace and is seeing them respond with changed lives.

With your gift, peace ambassadors in local churches are being given gospel-centered training for peacemaking in refugee camps; through this they find their own healing and put their knowledge into action by equipping others to create peace in communities.

Bulletin Insert

To give your church more information about the impact their gift can have towards your Shared Hopeful Gift, we’ve created bulletin inserts that share details about the project, how it serves people, and an impact story.

Donor Ornament

A fun way for your church to visually show participation in Shared Hopeful Gifts is through the donor ornaments! Download the file, cut them out, have participants write their name on an ornament once they’ve donated, and hang them on a tree in your church.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you are submitting an online donation for your church campaign, please include your church name in the “Comments” section of the donation form below so that we can attribute the funds accordingly.
