Hello, my name is Philipp Fröhlich. My wife and I live in the city of Marburg in Germany. German students and foreign students come to Marburg to study for a few semesters or several years. We want to tell Chinese people who come here to study about the good news of Jesus Christ. And we want to be a kind of “family” for them abroad. When they move to Germany, many Chinese students miss their family very much, from whom they receive love, support and important advice.

We want to provide them with this love and support, and we are grateful that several short-term mission teams are supporting us in this vision this year. We welcomed newly arrived students in October by organizing several welcome events. We are delighted that we were able to make new contacts. It says in 2 Corinthians: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.” (2 Cor 2:14-16)

Pray with us that the fragrance of Christ will spread further among the students and that these new and old contacts will grow deeper. Some students that we have met wanted to receive prayer. They could see the love that was being shown to them.

Nevertheless, there are many obstacles on the road to personal faith in Jesus. Pray with us that Chinese students will begin to build their lives on Jesus. Thank you for your prayers!

PRAYER POINTS:

Please pray:

  • We thank God that we have been holding our church meetings on new premises since October. We now have a second room and can be more flexible when planning events. For example, we can offer childcare for families parallel to the church service and have an Alpha course parallel to the Bible study meeting. We ask for a good and growing partnership with the German church, which provides us with the premises.
  • We thank God for the short-term outreach team that visited us in October. We ask that the contacts, which were established through the short-term mission, will continue and deepen. Pray that the Chinese students will see the value of regularly making time for fellowship and faith in their busy studies.
  • We will soon begin preparations for a Christmas party on 22 December. We invite students to a good meal and a joyful program where they can get to know the Christian background of Christmas. Let us pray for good contacts and open hearts.
