Dear Partners in Mission, I’m John Chan, Director of International Partnerships for CBM. COVID-19 has ravaged the world in the past two years. Millions were infected and thousands died from it. The global economy is rearing from the effects of lockdown and the resulting economic fallout due to supply chain issues.
We don’t know whether the COVID-19 pandemic will end in 2022, but we know the world, especially those who are poor and vulnerable, will be living with the adverse-effects of the pandemic for a long time.
Global poverty levels which were declining, spiked over the past 2 years; women who worked in the informal sector may never get to work again; children’s education in the Global South is setback by multiple years. In addition, CBM’s international partners, many of whom are churches and denominations, face the challenge posed by the loss of significant number of pastors and staff members.
And now, on top of that, the war in Ukraine is having a huge impact on the supply of wheat and energy to many countries, countries where CBM’s international partners and our field staff reside in.
Therefore, I implore you to pray together with me for our International Partners, our Field Staff contingent as well as our International Programs team as they seek to serve the most vulnerable in the world.
Prayer Points:
- Pray for CBM’s 23+ International partners working in 17 different countries (Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, India, Dominican Republic, Thailand, Philippines, Germany, Lebanon, DR Congo, Bolivia, El Salvador, Cuba, Guatemala, Liberia, Netherlands, and Myanmar). Pray that God will give them strength, resilience and wisdom to navigate the various challenges so that they can be salt and light to their local communities, bringing the love of Christ to the most vulnerable.
- Pray for CBM’s Global, National and Canadian Field Staff, as well as our Strategic Associates around the world, that God will protect them and guide them to walk alongside our partners, providing resources, insight and encouragement to our partners as they minister in God’s kingdom.
- Pray for CBM’s International Programs team as they assist our partners in processing project proposals, participate in the monitoring and evaluation process and in helping to build the programming capacity of our partners.
