Overview of the Region
The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with its rich history and diverse cultural landscape, presents unique challenges and opportunities for ministry. CBM has been deeply involved in this region, particularly in Lebanon, where we support a range of initiatives aimed at empowering local communities through education, leadership development, and direct aid.
CBM’s work in MENA focuses on theological and leadership education through partnerships with institutions like the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) in Lebanon. ABTS promotes women’s leadership in theological contexts and offers crucial training and resources to church leaders across the Arab world. They also facilitate important dialogue on interfaith relations and community leadership. In addition to educational efforts, CBM addresses the needs of vulnerable populations through projects such as the Baptist Children and Youth Ministry (BCYM) camps, which provide spiritual and recreational activities for children affected by regional conflicts, primarily those from displaced families.
