On April 29, 2024, flash floods caused a dam breach, devastating parts of Maai Mahiu, Kenya, a community about 60 kilometres from Nairobi. The destruction displaced 135 households—many of whom belong to a church supported by CBM’s partner, the Africa Christian Church & Schools (ACC&S). Families fled with only what they could carry, seeking shelter in temporary camps set up in schools and churches.

CBM and ACC&S responded immediately, delivering essential aid to those in need. Clergy teams are providing spiritual care, but many survivors also require professional psychological counselling to cope with the trauma.
