About Us

Who We Are

Canadian Baptist Ministries has been the official mission agency of Canadian Baptists since 1874. We work in partnership with local churches around the world to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to a broken world. Across 26 countries, we equip our partners to build the church, promote justice, address poverty, support kids at risk, and respond to crises.

Our Mission

Partnering with local churches around the world to bring hope, healing, and reconciliation through word and deed.

Our Vision

A broken world made new.

What We Value

Here are the values that express our heart and inform our actions:

We follow with our heart, soul and mind, the one God in three persons. We confess our faith in Jesus Christ, God’s revelation of himself. He is everything, and he is in everything. He supplies our needs for personal, experiential faith, and transformational discipleship so that we may be like him through the work of his Spirit within us.

We boldly and confidently proclaim that Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. In him, God saves, redeems and glorifies broken people by grace, through faith. This happens in unity. The Holy Spirit draws local fellowships of twos and threes, or hundreds and thousands into a shared life – the means of grounding God’s presence among his people. These communities of worship are created for his mission in the world. They’re entrusted with the message of reconciliation.

We love God because he first loved us. He is the alpha and omega, eternal. His mission of love to build shalom in a broken world. As a sign of our gratitude to him, we enthusiastically accept his invitation to join him in his mission. We are called to be global disciples, witnesses to his love and compassion.

Statement of Faith

Canadian Baptist Ministries affirms the revelation of God given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and confesses the faith set forth in those scriptures:

  • We here explicitly assert the doctrines which we regard as crucial to the understanding and proclamation of the gospel and to practical Christian living.
  • The sovereignty, love, and grace of God, the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit, in creation, providence, revelation, redemption, and final judgment.
  • The divine inspiration of the Bible and its entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • The value of each human being as created by God, and the universal sinfulness of humankind since the fall, which alienates all from God and subjects all to condemnation.
  • The full deity and humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, whose substitutionary sacrifice is the sole ground of redemption from the guilt, penalty, and power of sin.
  • The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone in Christ crucified and risen from the dead. The illuminating, regenerating, indwelling, and sanctifying work of God, the Holy Spirit, in the believer.
  • The Church as set forth in the New Testament and understood historically by the Baptist community.
  • The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ, our participation in the resurrection, and the hope of eternal life.

Our Canadian Partners

The Canadian Baptist family includes four regional denominations – Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada, Union d’Églises Baptistes Francophones au Canada, Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, and Canadian Baptists of Western Canada – and two women’s groups – Atlantic Baptist Women and Canadian Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec.

Since 1874, Canadian Baptist Ministries has been the way that Canadian Baptist churches have expressed their mission heart. CBM invites the Canadian Church to partner with the global Church through our model of Integral Mission. We work together to facilitate mutual learning and a deeper understanding and practice of God’s call for effective global discipleship. This is accomplished through church resourcing, experiencing global mission through SENT trips, and partnering with us financially by supporting both CBM Field Staff and the ministry projects with our international partners.
